CoOccur, Software for Implementing Robust Null Model Tests in Ecology

Picture
What is CoOccur?
CoOccur is a user-friendly program that implements robust null model tests developed in Ladau and Schwager (2008). The tests allow reliable inferences about interspecific interactions for a wide array of presence-absence data sets.
CoOccur  allows the use of non-experimental data to draw robust and powerful inferences about the effects of competition, facilitation, and habitat filtering in ecological data. The data analyzed by CoOccur are presence-absence species occurrence data -- lists of species present at sites. Using these data and information about the ecological similarity of species, CoOccur performs two tests: one for effects of competition, and one for effects of facilitation and habitat filtering. CoOccur also performs several diagnostics of the tests contingent on the data, to ensure that they have low error rates.

Obtaining CoOccur
CoOccur is free for download. It runs on the Windows operating system, and the entire download is less than 0.5Mb.

Using CoOccur
CoOccur requires no installation -- simply unzip the downloaded file and click the CoOccur icon to run. CoOccur comes with extensive help files, including a tutorial. Click Help on your copy of CoOccur to begin accessing these features.
